BizPaL, the online Business Permits and Licences Service 

Starting or expanding your business often requires many permits and licences from different levels of government. BizPal is a convenient, time saving online service that will help you figure out what permits and licences you need from the government of Canada, the Ontario government and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

How does BizPal work?

You will be asked a short series of questions about the nature and scope of your proposed or existing business. Based on your answers, you will get a customized list of permits and licences you need along with more information on how to get them. You can save, print or e-mail the list for future reference.

Please note that all of the information that you provide is done so anonymously, and tha

t you may save, print or e-mail your results for future reference.

Every effort is made to provide you with correct and complete information regarding permits and licences; however, making sure that all required permits and licences are obtained remains the responsibility of the business person. If you notice any omissions or errors in the information provided on BizPaL, please contact us.

Helpful hints Read these helpful hints before using BizPaL

• Business Type Not Found: Please note that some types of businesses are not yet included in BizPaL. Contact us if you cannot find a suitable category.
• Mandatory Questions: ALL questions must be answered before continuing to the next step.
• Asterisk: An asterisk beside a permit or licence name indicates that you must contact the issuing organization and provide more information to determine if you need this permit or licence.
• Results Page: After you answer all questions and obtain your results page, you can begin to contact the issuing organizations to proceed with acquiring your permits and licences.

Key troubleshooting tips:

• Scrolling: Some browsers may experience navigational issues. To ensure you review all required information, please scroll to the top of each page.
• Printing: Print your results using the "Printer Friendly" button on the last page, rather than using the "Printable Version" link.
• Saving: Some browsers require that you select 'Save as type: Web archive'' to save your results to your computer.
• Hyperlinks: Some hyperlinks do not display due to technical limitations. Please copy and paste each link into a new browser window.
